Summer Times

Today Gordon kindly sent me The Guard airdates for both Season One repeats and for the new season that will start on October 29th at 10pm. Check the main website homepage for all the details.

Its been a hectic summer, one where I have recently taken ownership of a dopey hound, the very silly Billy who is a rescue Greyhound. I have also been developing a number of websites, working on a new work website proposal and meeting Callum Keith Rennie, another admired actor of mine.

Naturally with most projects now coming to an end my attention is always drawn back to improving the wbros site, I have learnt a few more tricks over the past few months and am keen to put them into practice - I also have vague ideas for new content so its just a case of actually five minutes to sort them into something cool :)

Thank you for visiting!!

Toon Army...

Gah, no site updates for soooo long! Thanks to everyone who took the time to fill in Gordon's birthday book, he posted to his forum to say he had a good day - he was at the Seattle True Independant Film Festival where his short film Fracture was entered. Very pleased to see it picked up 'best visual effects' award, so hoping that encourages more productions soon!

2008 seems to be a constant busy time for me, with work and other projects but I haven't forgotten Woolvett bros, I mean how could I, the site is the reason I am so busy with work and other projects if I'm fair! I still have some stuff I want to do to the site, and add to it so as soon as I have some free time you'll see the updates!

Of course, having recently discovered that one of the bros supports Newcastle United (the Toon Army reference) I have to say for those who actually get the reference, with me being a die hard Man U fan, you'll understand that this is a little worrying ;) but I'll be good, I'll work through it and not let it get in the way, honest... hehe

stay tooned for more updates soon!

Unforgiven land

So, I went to Calgary and had a fantastic time meeting up with a nutty friend. We were there to go to a comic expo, where we met some cool folk and I now own a sketch of Futurama's 'Bender' as drawn by one of the show's artists, yes, very cool.

However, on a day trip out of the city to Banff, as we literally left Calgary I began to notice a familiar surround... I was suddenly in 'Unforgiven' territory and had totally forgotten the film was shot in Alberta! Yes, doofus I know, but the tour guide was very nice and pointed out a lot of the location areas as we headed out to Banff.

Although I never saw any actual 'locations' - we were in a car and the tour was to Banff, not Unforgiven locations, it was simply nice to experience that landscape for real as one of the things I like about Unforgiven is the wonderful cinematography, so all in all, a nice surprise even if a bit embarrasing that I didn't realise sooner that I was subconsciously doing a pilgramige to the location of one of my favourite movies... ahem.

Looney toons...

howdy! It's been a while but fear not, I'm still around and although the site updates haven't been plentiful lately, there are some little things I have planned as we approach summer and as soon as I have worked out what they are you'll be the first to know...

But before that great big sun called summer, there's a birthday greetings to dish out, firstly a belated birthday to the Jaimz Woolvett one for last Monday, I hope you all signed the birthday book for him! Then secondly it's the Woolvett bros site's 2nd birthday next week - May 1st marks the second anniversary of this very site going live, seems like it was only yesterday...

kinda, and its come a long way since those first few hours with its gold and black design, and severe lack of content (thankfully no one noticed...).

Some of you may have noticed a slight change to the site, call it boredom, call it a simple need to refresh the look of the site after a few weeks of neglect, but alas I channeled my boredom into designing a couple of cartoony woolvett heads, and generally turning the main site banner into a more illustrated feel - its a look that's becoming quite the 'thing' online lately so I've wanted to have a go at it, and I'm kinda pleased with the result... suffice to say I've not had feedback yet from the inspirations but hopefully they don't mind my cartooning of them... ahem. You may also notice I've designed the site a new 'badge/logo' - the big W, with the dots and bros above and below...yeps, I've had quite a few moments of boredom with all the work I've had to do lately!

Having only just got back from San Francisco a few days ago, I'm now off to Calgary in a couple of days - as soon as I'm back the site will return to normal service.. if I can just figure out what else to put on it!

Returning back to planet sorta normal...

gah.. its been so long but with only four days left now of the home show that has consumed all my time lately, the end is finally in sight! It seems like ages since I've done anything to the website, or even thought about it but fear not, from next week I'll be back and ready to go... well, once I've done a bit of travelling to recover from all the work I've done lately!

I have absolutely no idea what I'll be doing first when I get back into the woolvettbros webby stuff, I still have some video to upload and some reviews to complete, hopefully I can conjure up some cool stuff but in the meantime here I am in the world of Doctor Who, an exhibition is happening in the basement of the venue where my home show has been taking place, so yeah, the show team have lost me a couple of times...

Earthquake Survivor 2008

Ok, so it was only 5.2 but I'm in England, we don't get Earthquakes here... but last week we did and I was awake to experience, whilst it seemed the rest of England slept through it. It was mildly exciting, although at the time my first thought wasn't 'this is an Earthquake' but more 'omg a large rat is in my room shaking my bed' - no, I have no idea why I thought that was more possible than the reality but its best to stay clear of my thought processes sometimes.

So whats new on the Woolvett front - well GMWB launched yesterday, a brand new forum with a brand new look - all shiney :) If you were a member before, you'll need to sign up again, but do sign up! Visit the GMWB forum

The Guard has its season finale tonight in Canada, after seven eps it will return in September to conclude what was originally going to be the first season. So far feedback has been good and its being tagged as Canada's #1 new show!

Well, next week my big works project opens its doors to the public, so I'll either go really quiet or you'll get more insane than usual posts from a very tired Jips... enjoy.

Quick update...

With two new fanvids being posted this week, by first time video editor Hannah (el scribo... yeah formally 'the writer' we all knew Jaimz's new suggestion for a name would stick!) the website is going from strength to strength with more visits and pageviews than ever before - hurrah!

I don't have any immediate plans for updates, mostly due to work and hectic stuff, but a big thanks to everyone still supporting the site!! Always remember that if you have any suggestions, questions or comments about the site just use the 'contact' page to get in touch, everything is welcome (including content if any of you feel inspired!!)

Lots going on...

It's the mad season for me, with the show I'm working on now only 30 days away from opening it's doors for three long long weeks... still no matter how busy I am at work, I can't help but find myself doing whatever I can elsewhere and so designing little bits and peices for Gordon's new message board is a very happy distraction from all that madness... and I thank him for it!

Hopefully we'll be done with all the little bits and bobs soon, and the new messageboard will go live for all to enjoy again - it really is looking a lot better, and I think it's going to be a big hit, with quite a few new features and the security a lot better to slam the door on those spammers who plagued and eventually destroyed the old board!

Once the mad season is over, you will see a lot more going on with this site, but in the meantime I hope you enjoy what's already here! Keep an eye on the news page for GMW's new board goes live and any other news I can get out of the bros! :)

Music Videos and GMWMB update

Last week saw the introduction of a brand new section to Woolvett bros with the Woolvett Video Gallery launch. It's something I've wanted to do for a while and I hope to be adding more video content in the coming weeks, including some convention footage taken at Dragon*con in 2007 of Gordon Michael Woolvett.

I finally got to see The Guard this past weekend, the new series starring Gordon Michael Woolvett and I agree with a lot of comments I've read that call for 'more Barry!' but whilst other watchers of the show discussed whether Search and Rescue techniques were correct or whether the subject matters were acceptable I found myself with a much more pressing concern - has Gordon dropped the 'Michael' from his credited name and what does this mean to this website??! - it always felt lazy to drop the Michael when referencing him on the site, so I wouldn't be too upset, but I'll just have to see if it remains omited or not from future productions before I make that executive decision... ahem.

And on the subject of Gordon Woolvett (see already adopting the shorter name!) you'll all be pleased to know I'm sure that the new Woolvettboard/GMWB/GMWMB is taking shape nicely, after the sad demise of the old board last week. There's still a few tweaks and designs to add before it's unleash to the public, but its a definate improvement so watch this space!

The Guard starts this week (in Canada!)

Don't forget that The Guard premieres this week on Global in Canada, at 10pm on the 22nd January. The Guard follows the adventures of a Search and Rescue team based on Canada's west coast, Gordon Woolvett appears as Barry who runs things back at base, and if we're to beleive imdb will be appearing in most of the episodes, Andromeda co-star Steve Bacic plays the lead in the series.

It appears that both bros had a good xmas and new year, albeit with a few adventures on the way - Gordon has recorded his amusing new year (at a friend's expense) on his message board, so be sure to check that out - GMWMB - fanposts

The newest site design seems to have been well recieved and I'm glad to report that visitor levels are up, so I'll take that as a successful upgrade!

thanks for visiting! :)

A New Year - A New Site Design... again...

Happy New Year!

So today I finally launched the new look Woolvett bros website, which has taken me a month to build, populate and then test - fitting in Christmas madness into the mix, I don't think I did too badly.

There were two main reasons for the update... 1. I don't think websites should ever sit still and should always be evolving, yes that's right, this site is far from finished! and 2. the previous site was rapidly turning into a dinosaur by today's coding standards, and it began mocking me ;)

Ironically the site now looks like it actually has less content than before, which in my mind simply proves what a mess the site had become - because at least 95% of the content has transferred with only a couple of things falling by the wayside. That content is just simply better presented and the navigation has been greatly improved, with information all in one place rather than segregated into sections unrelated to each other.

What you should find now is that if you want to know about the film 'Boogie Boy' you shouldn't have to go to three seperate sections to find it, it's all now in one place now and easy to find!

Anyway I could honestly talk this nerdy for ever, so going to shut up now and let you enjoy the new look site!

Forgot to add there's two new items added as part of the update - Screen grabs and a review for the TV movie Gordon Michael Woolvett did in 2007 'Secrets of an Undercover Wife' and an old interview unearthed from 2001, again with Gordon Michael Woolvett.
